Fire Alarms and Building Evacuations

The careless use of fire, the removal of or tampering with fire-fighting equipment, and the setting off of “false” fire alarms endangers the lives and property of the Pitzer College community and is prohibited on its campus. (This violation of state law is classified as a misdemeanor and can result in a fine of up to $1000 and a possible jail term of up to one year). Judicial action will take place against an individual or group that violates this policy. Individuals refusing to evacuate a building during a fire alarm or other building evacuation can be cited by the Fire Marshall and are subject to judicial action.
