ENGL 037 PZ -Finding Gaza: Crea Writ - Poetry Institution: Pitzer College
Description:
How can we draw inspiration from the rich arts, culture, and history of the Gaza Strip to craft poetry? Focusing on the ongoing siege and genocide, students will explore how to transform news content, historical narratives, and the resilience of Gaza’s people into powerful poems. Through analysis of Gaza’s current events and artistic traditions in the broader context of Palestine and the Arab World, students will learn to capture moments of struggle, hope, and resistance in their work, using poetry as a medium for storytelling, activism, and personal reflection. Students will develop skills to create emotionally resonant poems and workshop them together, as well as interview and have conversations with Gazan artists and write about them. |
