ECON 171 PZ -Managerial Economics

Institution: Pitzer College

Description:
This course explores managerial economics in the context of climate change and sustainability. We learn how to apply microeconomic theories as well as decision-analysis to real-world challenges. We pay special attention to the estimation of functions describing consumer preferences and price elasticities. We then investigate demand estimation and forecasting for price-setting firms. Finally, we estimate short-run and long-run production- and cost functions. Through practical exercises and case studies, students will apply this framework to industries that are essential in the green transition. In this context, we will pay special attention to the supply and distribution of green hydrogen and agrivoltaics.
