EA 106 PZ -Climate Policy/Transition Praxis Institution: Pitzer College
Description: Climate Policy and Transition Praxis: Global Perspectives
This course explores the international and intersectional politics of climate change, mitigation, and adaptation, as instantiated in global climate policy and transition praxis. We examine the critical paradigm shift from market-based solutions and technical fixes to decolonial epistemologies and methodologies in climate policy-making and resilience-building. We interrogate various policy-relevant topics, including the politics of climate modeling and carbon accounting, the governance of extreme weather events and climate-induced displacement/migration crises, and the future of renewable energy and urban design. This discussion-based and seminar-style course will empower you with analytical tools and cross-cultural sensitivities to build toward environmentally and socially just futures.
