PHYS 179 KS -Intro to Modeling for Biol. Sci. Institution: Pitzer/Scripps
Description: This course will provide a broad, hands-on introduction to mathematical and computer modeling for the biological sciences. Students will learn how to create computer models in order to analyze the behavior of a variety of biological systems. Topics will include population biology, genetics, ecological systems, biological disposition of drugs and toxins, cell physiology, and the spread of diseases and epidemics. No prior experience with computer programming is assumed. Prerequisites: one semester of calculus, one semester of introductory biology. This course may be taken for upper-division credit towards the biology or physics major. Enrollment limited to 15.
