Institution: Pitzer/Scripps

Description: Over three quarters of the earth’s surface is covered in oceans, and much of the world’s life exists in the seas. This course will explore the unique habitats of the marine environments and the plants and animals that live there. The course will look at the chemical, physical and geological interactions that create the habitats and enable organisms to live where they do. Finally, the course will take a look at human interaction with these habitats. Fisheries management, pollution, aquaculture, and whaling policies will be among the topics covered. Enrollment limited to 45. Laboratory fee $30.
