ORST 150 PZ -Labor in the Global Economy Institution: Pitzer
Description: This class offers an overview of the causes and consequences of our divided global economy,
with focus on geography, but also issues of resources, opportunity, economic development,
transnational migration, and the international division of labor—all reflective of global inequities
and power differentials. Readings center on critical theory and practice (protests and social
movements) deeply embedded in intellectual conceptions of international political economy.
We emphasize critiques of the structures of oppression and accompanying proposed for
social change through review of global socialism, world systems theories (including dependency
schools), radical feminism, postâ€colonial theory, and critical race theory.
