Description: Hsitory of Mathematics since 1636
This course comprises a survey of the history of mathematics from the early-seventeenth century to the present. Topics emphasized will include: understandings of infinity, debates of priority, applications of mathematics studying natural phenomena, uses of computers, perceptions of genius, relationships with imagination, and changing standards of rigor.
