GFS 036 PZ -Introduction to Queer Studies Institution: Pitzer
Description: This course introduces key concepts in the interdisciplinary field of Queer Studies and emerging field of Critical Trans Studies through engagement with scholarly texts, performance and visual artworks, films, music, podcasts, and social media. Guided by theoretical traditions of women of color feminism, queer of color critique, and performance studies, we will study queer subjectivity, aesthetics, sex, and politics. While we center our analysis on sex, gender, and sexuality, we will apply an intersectional lens that includes dynamics of race, class, citizenship, ability, and more. Guest speakers and performers will accompany assigned materials.
Prerequisite(s): See the current course schedule for registration restrictions.
