EA 094 PZ -Haz Waste & Toxic Substances Pol Institution: Pitzer
Description: Hazardous Waste and Toxic Substance Policy:
This course explores the complicated history of the development of policy surrounding natural and synthetic chemicals that increased in use after World War II and the rise of consumerism. We will take an international look at how nations individually and in community with other nations create and implement policy around the movement, use and disposal of toxic substances. Since the deposition of these wastes have been shown to disproportionally affect people of color and low income, we will specifically investigate the social and environmental justice issues of the policies.
Prerequisite(s): See the current course schedule for registration restrictions.
