Description: This course is designed for non-majors who want an introduction to some of the tools and research work of economists, with a focus on microeconomics. It is also for those interested in seeing what economists have to contribute to discussions and knowledge around social and economic issues. We will cover the basics and insights from several of the models in introductory microeconomics, including graphical representation, but without the heavy reliance on mastering. Additionally, students will get more exposure to the work of economists with self-directed review of video lectures on topics such as education, economic mobility, health care, climate change, criminal justice, tax policy, and/or equality of opportunity. This course rewards active engagement, completeness, and good-faith effort on all work.
For those models we do cover, students will do homework, but with support available and without the pressure of tests.
Prerequisite(s): See the current course schedule for registration restrictions.
