CGS 092 PZ -Culture, Change & Justice: Nepal Institution: Pitzer
Description: Culture, Change and Justice in Nepal
The course will focus on a select number of important ongoing issues that affect the lives of the people of Nepal, including health, education, caste and ethnicity, gender, out migration, the remittance economy, earthquake recovery and others. Historical and socio-economic conditions that have led to inequalities among various groups in Nepal, and the barriers to equality and inclusiveness associated with particular issues will be considered. Zoom sessions with Pitzer in Nepal staff, who represent the non-dominant, often oppressed indigenous and low caste groups will offer a wide range of stories and perspectives. Written assignments and oral presentations will expect students to integrate material from multiple sources into a cohesive, multi perspective understanding of the issue.
Prerequisite(s): See the current course schedule for registration restrictions.
