CHST 182 CH -Death Squads and Dictators Institution: Pitzer
Description: Death Squads and Dictators: Latinx Literature and the Cold War Age
Students will learn the role of Latin America in relation to US Cold War strategy and
policies. They will understand the changing roles of U.S.- Latin American relations as they
relate to migration, globalization and economic development. Students will interpret,
understand and engage literary works within cultural, social, and historical contexts. They
will employ critical reading as an effective basis of literary inquiry, through close reading
of form and discourse, and through engagement with literary contexts.
