Description: Covers the music of Jamaica with particular attention to the development of its distinctive aesthetic practices, including reuse, recycling, and remix. Emphasizes the creative use of technology and Jamaicans’ use of musical forms to express key cultural values. Includes extensive listening to recorded examples as well as in-class performance of Jamaican genres as a means to experiential learning. Letter grade only.
