NEUR 149 KS -Neuroscience 2: Systems Institution: Pitzer/Scripps
Description: This course will examine the structure, function, and organization of nervous systems. Topics will include signal transduction, electrophysiology, the role of trophic factors, development of the nervous system, and neural networks. Consideration will also be given to neuropathologic conditions such as Parkinson’s’ and Alzheimer’s diseases. Prerequisites: Biology 43L and 44L, or Biol 40L and Biol 44L; Chemistry 14L, 15L, or Chemistry 29L, or Chem 40L and Chem 15L, or both semesters of the AISS course. Enrollment limited to 24. Offered every year. Formerly also listed as BIOL149 KS.
