Description: This course traces the relationship between eros and human sexuality from Greek antiquity (ca.600 BCE) through the middle Byzantine era (ca. CE 1100)primarily through a feminist and queer theoretical lens. The course will draw on material and visual culture and will include readings from philosophical, literary, and mystical sources that express queer divine-human and human-human relations and transgender identities.
