Description: This course analyzes the relationship between religion and politics in Western Europe from the late medieval period to the early modern period. It explores key church-state conflicts, economic pressures and problems, gender roles, Catholic-Protestant controversies and religious reform movements that impacted the political and social situations in England, Scotland and continental Europe.
