Description: This Child and Adolescent Mental Health seminar covers the identification and understanding of common mental, emotional, and behavioral disorders of childhood, adolescence, and young adulthood. We will consider developmental, social, and cultural influences on diagnoses and treatment interventions. This course assumes a developmental perspective that seeks to distinguish normal developmental behaviors from formal diagnoses and severe mental illnesses. Additionally, students will become familiar with effective treatment strategies and evidence-based practices for the most common psychological disorders and presenting concerns in children, adolescents, and young adults.”
