Description: Recognizing the diverse voices and experiences of people of African descent in the United States, this course introduces students to key issues engaging African Americans from Reconstruction to the late twentieth century. Points of discussion include national identity; distinct political, economic and social approaches; continuing class and gender differences; urbanization; the State; and international influences.
