HIST 153 AF -Slave Women in Antebellum Amer Institution: Scripps
Description: This course examines the role of power and race in the lives and experiences of slave women in antebellum United States mainly through primary and secondary readings. Topics include gender and labor distinctions, the slave family, significance of the internal slave trade, and regional differences among slave women’s experiences. The course ends with slave women’s responses during the Civil War.
