HIST 011 PZ -The World Since 1492 Institution: Pitzer
Description: This course explores the last 500 years of world history. In examining this large expanse of time, we focus on four themes: 1) the formation and effects of modern identities, especially race, ethnicity, and gender, (2) the development and expansion of industrial capitalism, (3) the establishment of modern empires, states, and colonial territories, and (4) the role of movement-of culture, persons, things, practices, and ideas-in the shaping the world since 1492.
