BIOL 157L KS -Cell Biology

Description: This course examines the function of organisms at the cellular and molecular level through discussion, analysis of scientific literature, and laboratory experimentation. Topics include signal transduction, nuclear structure and function, cell division, and apoptosis (cell suicide). The laboratory uses modern cell biology techniques including fluorescent microscopy and immunodetection of proteins. Prerequisites: Biol 43L, or Biol 40L, and Chem 14L/15L (or 29L),or Chem 40L/Chem 15L, or Chem 42L, or both semesters of the AISS course, or permission of instructor. One previous upper division Biology course is strongly recommended. Enrollment limited to 18. Offered every semester.
