ENGL 009 AF - Black Feminist Community Learning and Literature


This is a community-learning course that examines concepts of social responsibility and justice as conceived by Black feminist analysis and the expressive and community-building value of literature through reading, writing, multimedia and other interdisciplinary creative forms. Class meetings are organized around community reading and writing workshops culminating in a collaborative class production including a performance and reception event. Meets the Pitzer College social responsibility requirement; meets literature elective requirement (not a creative writing course); meets Africana Studies major requirement; may be repeated for credit or internship.
